Research Profile
Dr. Zaghloul’s research focuses on neonatal brain injury in both term and preterm infants. She has developed a mouse model to investigate hypoxic-ischemic injury in the preterm brain, facilitating the use of transgenic mouse manipulation for the prevention and treatment of neonatal brain injury. Her research encompasses a variety of neurotherapeutics targeting hypoxic-ischemic injury in the immature brain, including drug therapies, anti-microglial activation targets, and neuro-steroids. Furthermore, she serves as a site Investigator and Co- Investigator for several clinical trials involving infants with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy and conducts clinical research in this domain. Dr. Zaghloul is the Co-director of the Neuro-NICU alongside Dr. Michael Weiss and also holds the position of Director of the NICU Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) program.
