Research Profile

Neonatal pulmonary hypertension represents a major challenge for neonatologist at early stage of life. So far, neonatal outcome of this disease is not promising, due to the increase incidence of chronic lung disease which is complicated by development of BPD and pulmonary hypertension. Our society and our population are still looking for a rescue treatment for this disease who affect human being on all age groups (from neonate to elders), not just at national level, but internationally too.

We started investigating this disease many years ago, using my previous experience in oxidative stress and its impact on neonate body systems. our studies focus on both clinical and basic/transitional research. Currently, we are studying many approaches, in a trial to improve our understanding of the pathophysiology associated with progression of pulmonary hypertension in our population and find out an innovative approach, which could be though using new molecules (e.g. MIF inhibitor, ENAMPT antibody & VIP analogue), tackling different pathways and also based on neuromodulation strategy approach.

Areas of Interest

  • VIP analogue and pulmonary hypertension
  • eNAMPT and chorioamnionitis using small and large animal model
  • eNAMPT and pulmonary hypertension
